An army marches on its stomach, so said Napoleon. In actual fact, he probably said "C'est la soupe qui fait le soldat" - "It's the soup that makes the soldier" - but I digress. Either way, few could deny that good food helps all, because after all, the best food for the soul very often turns out to be, well, food.
And within the realm of gastronomic exploration, baking seems to be enjoying something of a renaissance. Everyone, from Guardian columnists to Radio 1 DJs, seems to be telling us that rustling up a cheeky batch of cookies or decent Victoria sponge is, far from farinaceous folly, an enviable pursuit.
There are many baking blogs online, and I'm not pretending this one has any great stroke of innovation or 'secret sauce' that sets it apart. But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
